Start with the season rather than a fixed planting date. Weather, soil warmth, daylight and whether a crop is growing outdoors or under cover change the right moment to act. The month-by-month calendar helps you identify what to check next; use local conditions before planting tender crops or protecting containers from frost.
When choosing what to grow, compare light exposure, available space and how regularly you can water. The plant directory lists 108 profiles across vegetables, herbs, fruit and ornamentals. For a smaller garden, first note which beds or pots get sun and how you will reach them for routine care. A useful plant is one that fits your site, not simply one that looks attractive in a photograph.
Sources and practical planning
The international garden radar records fairs, horticultural developments and sources. Those entries are research leads, not proof that products work or that all visitor arrangements are unchanged. Confirm travel, tickets and event dates with the organiser. To keep plant choices and tasks together, My Garden Year uses local browser storage, so no account is required. Keep a backup before clearing browser data.
